The Great Plains Pond Society was formed in October of 1998 for pond keeping enthusiast on all levels to learn and share information on water gardening and fish keeping. Membership has now grown to more than 70 people.
Meetings are usually held on the third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in March, April, September and October at the Douglas/Sarpy County Extension Office, 8015 West Center Road. From May through August, we meet at member ponds or go on outings to local nurseries, suppliers or places of interest.
Our goal is to promote pond keeping and water gardening of all types, from half-barrel water gardens to enormous ponds, and to provide a source for information on how to create and maintain a pond of any size. We welcome even those who are merely thinking about plunging into water gardening.
We invite experts to our meetings to provide information, instruction and answer questions on the vast array of subjects that are of interest to the group.
